The Harmony Ranch abounds with plants and animals. The land has a balance of Redwood, Fir and Oak trees combined with some large open meadows. You will find many wild flowers, grasses and mushrooms (during the wet season). Across the road from the ranch are the headwaters of the Albion River and spawning grounds for Salmon.

There are many areas to hike and bike. If photography is an interest you have come to the right place.

The large pond is a quiet place to watch the Great Blue Heron hunting Bull Frogs, the pond turtles basking in the sun, and on occasion the River Otters make an appearance. As many as seven otters at one time have been observed doing a water ballet as they feasted on frogs and Large Mouth Bass. In the spring you will see the Canadian Merganser and other ducks visiting the pond in pairs.

The pond is also a relaxing place for catch and release fishing, meditation or enjoying a favorite book.

In the meadows you will see herds of deer, Grey Squirrel, Racoons, Skunks, very large rabbits, non-poisoness snakes, and sometimes Grey Foxes.

At night you will hear the Owls (The spotted Owl is native to the area) and sometimes during the day you will hear the Osprey. The Red Tail Hawk is a frequent visitor and the Turkey Vulture and the Raven are also residents of the area. Wild turkeys are abundant and in the spring the large flocks with their young will come to the pond to drink.

We have occasionally had a Mountain Lion sighting on the property but it is quite rare. They are basically hunting the deer and will come to the pond to drink in late summer. The absence of deer roaming the land is an indication that the Lion might be around and during those times we do exercise caution when walking around in the evening. The Mountain Lion is very shy and will easily be startled by noise.
